The first major signal came in August 2025<\/strong>, when the U.S. State Department approved a possible $104 million<\/strong> Foreign Military Sale to Ukraine covering equipment, repair services, and long-term sustainment support for M777 howitzers<\/strong> and related systems. The February 6, 2026<\/strong> Class IX spare-parts package widened that logic. The estimated $185 million<\/strong> approval covered spare parts for U.S.-supplied vehicles and weapon systems, showing that sustainment had become systemic, not platform-specific. Officially, the DSCA notice used broad language. A launcher without parts is a photo opportunity. A howitzer without structural renewal is a temporary asset.
