The same Gunnery Sergeant who had just kicked her chair straightened up, voice booming with authority.<\/p>\n

Boots thundered toward the door as his team rallied behind him. He didn\u2019t even glance back at the woman he\u2019d knocked to the floor.<\/p>\n

Alexis stood alone in the middle of the bar, blood on her lip, expression unchanged.<\/p>\n

Fifteen minutes later, the situation at Naval Training Facility North had gone from bad to catastrophic.<\/p>\n

Captain Alexis Kaine.<\/p>\n

She moved like death in human form \u2014 suppressed rifle, night vision, absolute silence. In under nine minutes she had neutralized three of the shooters and freed twelve hostages. The fourth shooter was the only one left alive.<\/p>\n

When the smoke cleared, she walked straight up to the wounded Gunnery Sergeant, still lying on the ground where his \u201creal warriors\u201d had fallen.<\/p>\n

He looked up at her, face pale, eyes wide with recognition and shame.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2026 you\u2019re the SEAL Commander everyone talks about in whispers,\u201d he rasped.<\/p>\n

Alexis crouched beside him, voice ice cold.<\/p>\n

The Gunnery Sergeant had no answer.<\/p>\n

He had ordered the attack on the training facility specifically to draw out and eliminate Captain Alexis Kaine, the one person who had previously refused to join his corrupt network.<\/p>\n

He never expected her to end it in under fifteen minutes.<\/p>\n

Harlan was arrested at his home the next morning. The Gunnery Sergeant and several others received dishonorable discharges. The Marines who had laughed in the bar that night were forced to watch security footage of their \u201creal warriors\u201d operation \u2014 and their commander bleeding on the floor while a woman they had mocked finished the fight alone.<\/p>\n

Two weeks later, Alexis stood at attention in full dress uniform as the Secretary of the Navy personally pinned the Navy Cross on her chest.<\/p>\n
